Steel Pan Summer Camp

The Summer Lab offers youths ages 10-18 an intensive three-week music laboratory on the steel drums and percussion, in addition to academic tutoring in Math and Reading. The three-week intensive includes an all-day schedule of Music Theory, Arranging, Practical Lessons, Small and Large Ensembles, Music Appreciation, Latin Percussion, and optional Academic classes. Students are taught by trained and experienced music instructors from around the world. Youth who complete the summer lab are encouraged to audition for entry into CAFE’s year-round Saturday Academy. CAFE is currently working to offer an exciting summer camp opportunity in Trinidad, West Indies for summer 2012.  Details we become available soon!

9:00-10:15: Music Appreciation Research/Academic Tutoring

10:15-11:00:  Small Ensemble

11:00-12:00:  Music Theory/Theory Games

12:00-1:00:  Lunch

1:00-2:30:  Music Movie/Latin Percussion

2:30-3:00:  Independent Practice

3:00-4:00:  Practical Lessons

4:00-5:00:  Large Ensemble
